Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"Our Barossa Shiraz comes from many parcels across our three vineyard sites. These vineyards ripen differently owing to their different aspects, elevation and soil types. Our Greenock vineyard is on the western end of the Barossa, first to ripen for us and always brings a vibrant bouquet and punchy tannin to our blend. Our Nuriootpa plantings bring a depth of tannin and a lovely sweet spiced fruit element and our Craneford vineyard is a more elevated site on leaner soils ripening later in the season.
The season leading into 2022 was mild, with enough rainfall to set our vines up for a low stress run into vintage. Very mild summer conditions, without heat spikes, allowed for gentle ripening and exceptional concentration of fruit flavours. This wine was fermented in a combination of open concrete fermenters with a portion in closed stainless steel fermenters, which helped to hold in fragrance and vibrancy. The parcels were kept separate as they went through malolactic fermentation in barrel, before further maturation in a mix of French and American puncheons to soften and build volume around the bold tannin structure of this wine. The parcels were then carefully assessed before blending and subsequent bottling to ensure the style and quality expectations of this wine were upheld.
Complex bouquet of spiced plums, blackberries and red fruits with nuances of oak. The palate is lifted with vibrant red berry fruits, depth of silky tannins, plus freshness and spice. Full bodied, rich, classic."

"This is surely already a contender for one of the best value wines of the year. From a superb vintage, this comes from a range of vineyards at Nuriootpa, Craneford and Greenock, with vines as old as 128 years. It spent two years maturing in a mix of French and American oak puncheons, mostly older ones. Dark purple, the nose is redolent with chocolate and mocha. Big and bold, ripe and rich, this is seamless and supple. Poised and taut in style, with bright acidity, fine balance and great length, it finishes with silky tannins. Love this and it is such great value for a wine which is so chock full of flavour. Ten to fifteen years without a hiccup."
94/100 David Sly, Decanter UK (2022 Vintage)
"A heady waft of ripe red berries and a freshly mown meadow framed by eucalyptus trees sets the stage for a grand red berry entrance – plush, opulent and proud. This has rich redcurrant and blackberry speaking in a loud, clear voice, with the solid fruit platform propelled by a firm acid seam. It finishes tight, aided by a cluster of fine-grained tannins, which suggests a long, fruitful life in the cellar."
93/100 Dave Brookes, James Halliday's Wine Companion (2022 Vintage)
A blend of Barossa and Eden Valley shiraz that presents deep crimson in the glass with excellent fruit purity and depth. Juicy plum and black fruits, abundant spice, licorice and dark chocolatey notes. It presents terrific value with a lot of Barossa packed into the bottle, tannins fine and sandy and a seam of fresh acidity as it trails away.
91/100 Erin Larkin, RobertParker.com, Wine Advocate (2022 Vintage)
The 2022 Barossa Shiraz leads with garden roses and sandalwood, arnica and soft licorice, moss and lichen. The wine is red fruited and spicy alongside, with scraped vanilla pod and spicy plums. It feels and tastes like Barossa, without the overt weight and density of other estates. The earthy tannins speak of the Barossa. I love the finish.
