Winery notes (2025 Vintage)
"We didn’t enter Rosé timidly. This isn’t a by-product of red winemaking or a reaction to an average vintage (as so many Rosés on the shelf are). This one was made because we wanted to make it.

This Syrah Rosé is built to grab attention: colour that hints at fruit and earth; fragrance that lifts with floral, fruit and mineral notes; and a dry, long texture that’s as confident as it is refreshing.

Hand-picked fruit, a slow and indulgently long press cycle, and fermentation shaped by cool autumn temperatures. Then eight months on spent yeast lees to build presence, depth and texture. The result? A Rosé with enough substance to sit comfortably—and proudly—among its Easthope stablemates."

94/100 Stephen Wong MW, The Real Review, August 2026 (2025 Vintage)
"Set high above the Ngaruroro River in Mangatahi, Hawke’s Bay, Rod and Emma Easthope’s Home Block vineyard yields beautiful syrah and even more remarkably, some of that fruit makes it into this top-notch rosé. Long, slow press cycles and enrichment on lees for eight months has resulted in a seriously age-worthy, dry rosé which punches well above its weight in power and intensity.

Light orange-pink. A subtle hint of flint and white pepper greets the nose, borne on a voluminous base of ripe apricot and stone-fruit. The palate is still very youthfully closed and angular, but under the grainy tannins lies a core of intense, complex fruit ranging from persimmon and apricot kernel to blueberry and mulberry, displaying palate-staining concentration and fantastic length. Significantly more powerful than typical rosé yet tapering down to a bone-dry finish with a cool, gravelly minerality, this will blossom and expand in bottle beautifully over the next few years."
