Importer and Master of Wine Steve Bennett has a knack of finding exceptional wines that really over deliver for the price, and this is no exception. This bargainous gem comes from the well-respected Navarro López winery based in the Valdepeñas region in the southern part of central Spain.
Bodegas Navarro López was born in 1988 when its president, Doroteo Navarro Donado, bought an old winery in Valdepeñas which was founded in 1904. "My family's business philosophy has been carved out after many years working in the world of wine. I started my career in the world of wine at a very young age; working in the family vineyard or transporting vats, bocoyes and skins of wine around Madrid. In 1988 I set up on my own and bought the first winery, located on Real de Valdepeñas."
Navarro López fuses tradition and innovation with its extensive range of wines from different Spanish D.O., is an internationally-renowned wine-making company in more than 70 countries. Now run by the children of its president, Francisco and Ana Navarro, but with a modern approach as a result of its international presence and its exponential growth.

"An attractive bouquet of red fruits and plum flesh, there’s a fine layer of sandy clay soil with fruit-spices and a touch of smoky wood for complexity and charm. An easy drinking wine on the palate with fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet from plum to black currant, then spices of fruit and oak. Tannins and acidity layer on mouthfeel and texture and with the oak flavours present a charming and easy to drink wine. Will be great with food. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2026."
