We’re excited to introduce De La Terre Mk 1 Chardonnay, a new wine from a boutique Hawkes Bay producer that has quietly been crafting impressive wines while flying under the radar. Meaning “of the earth”, De La Terre’s philosophy is built around respecting the vineyard, traditional winemaking and creating wines designed to shine alongside good food and great company.
Mk 1 represents a fresh chapter for the winery, taking their former Estate Chardonnay and giving it a clear identity and style. Crafted to be approachable, generous and incredibly enjoyable, it combines ripe tropical Chardonnay fruit with rich mocha notes and layers of fine toasted French oak. Soft acidity and a satisfying mid-palate weight make this the kind of Chardonnay that’s perfect by the glass, at the local restaurant, or shared over a relaxed dinner.
We’ve secured this exciting new release at a special introductory price as De La Terre looks to build awareness in the local market. A beautifully made Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay offering outstanding value, and a great chance to discover a new favourite before it becomes widely known.
Winery notes (2025 Vintage)
"De la terre' -; literally 'of the earth' is a reference to both the vineyard soils and the earth brick construction used for the winery and cellar door. De la terre's winemaking methods are largely traditional with emphasis on minimal handling to retain the integrity and concentration of fruit. Food and wine matching is a particular focus -; the wine style is designed to provide elegant wines to accompany food.
Our new iteration of what used to be our Estate Chardonnay. We’ve given it a distinct character of toasty French oak alongside some of the tropical notes of Chardonnay. Fermented in 3 separate parcels with different yeast for each, and blended after fermentation. Rich and flavoursome with a lovely soft acidity."
