Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"A single vineyard Chardonnay from Trelinnoe (tree-lin-o) Vineyard on Roys Hill named for the own er’s historical ties to Cornwall. Trelinnoe Vineyard Chardonnay is a part of our project to highlight some of the most unique, small, single vineyards in Hawke’s Bay.
The Roys Hill hillside terraces are sandstone over limestone and are planted with clone UCD15 Chardonnay. The fruit was 100% hand-picked, then whole bunch pressed to French oak barriques for fermentation. As with all of our Chardonnays, the Trelinnoe Chardonnay was fermented with indigenous yeast. The wine spent 11 months in oak prior to bottling; there was no fining or cold stabilisation.
The 2024 Trelinnoe Vineyard Chardonnay shows the beauty of the vintage with full, ripe fruit and a great central line of acidity. A full, textural palate with the complexity perfectly balancing with the oak. Classic Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay, moderately weighted and restrained in its youth but with time it will open up to a rich, food friendly wine."

"The aroma is less shouty-outy than many, with a dialled-down nose of citrus, white peach, ginger, pepper, almond cream and lemon blossoms. The palate shows broad shoulders and you can feel some volume in the wine. Clean, ripe fruit is carried by juicy acidity. An expression of cool climate Chardonnay, with focus and firm structure. Texture is key, with a delicate balance between the elements that starts to include savoury notes in the back palate – fennel and green olive both show. This should age very well, but drinks beautifully already."
95/100 Erin Larkin, Robert Parker.com, Wine Advocate, June 2026 (2024 Vintage)
"The 2024 Trelinnoe Chardonnay is a two-and-a-half-barrel blend from the Trellinoe vineyard. The terraces were damaged in the 2023 cyclone, and the yields are extremely low. The wine is made from Clone 95 (Kaikora Vineyard is Clone 15, Two Terraces Vineyard is Clone 548), and the wine is linear and tightly coiled, wrapped around a core of briny acidity. White peach, preserved lemon rind, crispy green apple and a spice mix of fennel/clove/star anise lace the perimeter. This beautiful wine is elegant, sapid and palate staining."
94/100 Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, March 2026 (2024 Vintage)
"Pear, cashew and spice, some mint. There’s a nutty richness to this wine, with balanced acidity, a whole heap of flavour, grilled peach and cinnamon, some pastry dough, a saline thing, a grapefruit tang, with a nutty finish of fine length. A little softer and more ripe in delivery, with a pear juice aftertaste. Very good."
