This Burgundian family estate has deep roots in the Côte Chalonnaise, with four generations dedicated to the craft of winemaking. Originally founded by Charles Berthoux, the estate saw Georges Berthoux take over in 1958, merging vine cultivation with sheep farming. Over nearly four decades, he expanded the vineyard across the communes of Jambles, Givry, and Mercurey, ultimately deciding in 1993 to focus exclusively on viticulture. Pascal Danjean, Georges's son-in-law, joined the family business that same year and began vinifying his first harvests, taking full control of the vineyard in 2002.
Today, the estate is managed by Pascal and his son, Charles-Antoine, who brings experience from working in the northern Rhône Valley and New Zealand. With a commitment to sustainable farming practices, they cultivate 13 hectares across five appellations, producing Givry and Mercurey wines that authentically express the unique terroir of the region.
Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"The grape, only raw material of the wine, must be of the best quality. That is why our cuvées are made solely from grapes grown on our own plots to ensure a full control over the ageing and that they express the full character of their terroir.
Fruit-driven, subtle and delicate, with very pleasant aromas of red fruits, it goes wonderfully with poultry or barbecue-grilled meat."
