Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"Our 2024 Iris Collection Chardonnay showcases the exceptional depth and remarkable vibrancy of Hawke's Bay. A cool, extended flowering period naturally concentrated the fruit, while near-perfect warm days and cool nights allowed the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. This idyllic growing season shapes the beautiful balance and energy of this wine.
The expressive bouquet introduces layers of white peach, nectarine, and bright lemon curd, complemented by a touch of roasted hazelnut from careful oak integration. Gentle, restrained oak wraps around a medium-weight palate of balanced acid and a creamy mouthfeel. Nothing is too dominant—the fruit, textures, and crisp, chalky acidity all sing in harmony, leading to a long, focused finish.
A blend of barrel and tank fermentation. A portion was pressed direct to barrel with high solids and natural yeasts. 24% new French oak barriques and hogsheads. Lees stirred for several months to aid palate weight and complexity. Approximately 80% malolactic fermentation. 10 months on lees prior to blending."
4 Stars Cuisine Chardonnay Tasting, September 2026 (2024 Vintage)
"An attractive combination of stonefruit and oak with perfumed florals on the nose. The palate, while not overly complex, is very well constructed with delicious sweet rounded fruit flavours and a fresh acid line held in beautiful balance."
