Gold Medal – Intercontinental Wine Challenge 2024
Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"A firm favourite in the Claymore playlist, our London Calling Cabernet Malbec blend takes inspiration from the old world and reinvents it to reflect our modern winemaking style. Plush and juicy with an slightly crunchy natural acid backbone – the Malbec works its magic by softening any prickly edges on the Cabernet Sauvignon and contributing a delicious richness in the mid palate."
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2024 (2022 Vintage)
"Beautifully ripe and fragrant with dark berry, thyme, cedar and rich floral aromas, it's splendidly flavoursome in the mouth delivering fleshy texture with fine-grained tannins. Upfront and immediately appealing. At its best: now to 2032."
92/100 Ken Gargett, WinePilot.co.nz, July 2024 (2022 Vintage)
"They are clearly music fans at Claymore, fans with excellent taste in both tunes and wines. This is a Clare Valley blend of Cabernet and Malbec. A deep magenta hue, there are notes of spicy oak and dark fruits. Plums, dried herbs, chocolate, coffee grinds, bay leaves, licorice and black cherries. This is a medium length wine with fine tannins providing decent grip. Drink this now and for the next six years."
92/100 Ray Jordan, WinePilot.co.nz, April 2024 (2022 Vintage)
"The Cabernet and Malbec combination has always been a winner from the Clare Valley. On the nose is a cascading combination of dark chocolate, bright red fruits, a little rhubarb and the blackcurrant of Cabernet. It’s a smooth and seamlessly structured with a fine and balanced palate. Medium bodied and ideal for current drinking."
