Jean-Guillaume and Jean-Philippe launched Bret Brothers in early August 2001, with the aim of making great terroir wines, primarily from Southern Burgundy. This ambitious objective implies rigorous specifications to which they have faith: they give the same care and passion to those grapes as they would to the grapes coming from their Domaine La Soufrandiere.
They have quickly become leaders in the region, deeply committed to expressing the special characteristics of the best parcels of old vines through natural farming and meticulous winemaking.
A lovely plot on a 20% slope, facing east towards Mont Blanc (often visible). Very beautiful soil, very calcareous. This expressive yet balanced Chardonnay reveals a lovely, dominant freshness on the palate. The finish is round and persistent, with delicate notes of candied apricots.
Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"Our Mâcon-Igé comes from the eponymous village, located in this long clay-limestone valley, starting in the south at La Roche-Vineuse, then ending in Cruzille in the north, having crossed the villages of Verzé, Igé, Azé and Bissy. Hand harvested, whole bunch pressing, native yeasts, 20% vinified and aged in pieces (228 l barrels) for 11 months. 80% in stainless steel tank."
