Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"The fruit for this wine was grown on the upper terrace at Askerne Vineyard and is predominantly Clone 14 Semillon. It was handpicked then whole bunch pressed, lightly settled and transferred to barrel. 100% barrel fermented with a mixture of wild and inoculated yeast, the wine was then aged on its lees for 18 months prior to blending and bottling. Final blend has a 33% new French oak component and the balance 2nd fill.
Bright aromas of lemon, fresh tangerine and tropical pineapple with mineral notes and hints of scented oak spice. The palate is rich and textural with concentrated lemon and stonefruit flavours on a backbone of bright zesty acidity which gives a wonderfully long finish."
Rated Excellent & 94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, May 2022 (2020 Vintage)
"A lovely fragrant bouquet filled with scents of lemon and white peach, sweet hay and a waxy lemon and wet wool and floral charm. A coarse silk texture with plenty of acidity is contrasted by the core of fruits and waxy mouthfeel. Some honeysuckle moments and fine lees spice layer builds complexity and length. Dry and long on the finish, a delicious expression perfect as an aperitif or for seafood and vegetarian dishes. Best drinking from late 2022 through 2032+."
91/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2022 (2020 Vintage)
"A gorgeous expression of the variety showing nectarine, lemon zest, jasmine and rich floral aromas with a hint of vanilla. The palate delivers excellent weight and vibrancy, well supported by fine texture and crisp acidity. At its best: now to 2027."
