An EPIC DEAL on this unique offering from one of our favourite Marlborough wineries.
A special new wine in the Two Rivers line-up that comes from winemaker Dave Clouston's own Brookby Hill vineyard in the Southern Valleys. This field blend is an exciting wine that captures the vineyards full expression akin to the great wines of Alsace that don't look for varietal expression but instead capturing the vineyard unique qualities.
The resulting wine offers a snapshot into Dave's extraordinary abilities as a winemaker, seamlessly blending the characteristics of each io the varieties into a wine of great balance and deliciousness.
Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"Our Field Blend is a unique expression of our Brookby Hill Vineyard, situated within the steep slopes of Marlborough’s Southern Valleys. A selection of, Viognier, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and Riesling were chosen based on their distinct flavour characteristics.
This year’s harvest stands out as one of the best in the past decade – allowing for perfect harvest conditions. The Indian summer allowed for an even, slower ripening period, producing highly concentrated fruit with distinctive flavours. As a result, the wines are pure and powerful, with lifted aromatics, lively acidity and great energy.
Our Field Blend wine is a perfect combination of freshness and vibrancy with multiple layers of texture. It boasts delicate aromatics, featuring the scent of fresh cut wild flowers, apricots, and lemon thyme. It has a waxy mouthfeel and a subtle white pepper finish. This wine is delightful on the palate, with texture, weight and richness.
Grapes were organically grown on the steep slopes of our high density planted Brookby Hill Vineyard in the Southern Valleys of Marlborough. The fruit for our Field Blend was hand harvested, whole bunch pressed, and co-fermented. The wine was then aged on light yeast lees for six months to gain complexity and increase mouthfeel."
