Mayer is a small producer of hand crafted, single vineyard wines (in Yara Valley, Victoria). He believes that wines are made in the vineyard and with as little interference as possible. His aim? To make wines with a point of difference, or in Mayer’s words… Bring back the funk.
Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"No overt oak influence leaves raspberry, cranberry and cherry fruits to the fore. Some spice and savoury notes, fresh acidity. Fine tannins on the finish.
Fruit is handpicked and de-stemmed. It is then fermented for three weeks on skins, with wild yeasts. Wines are then aged in 300 and 500 litre French oak barriques, a third of which are new. Wines are bottled without fining of filtration."

94/100 Mike Bennie, The Wine Front, March 2021 (2020 Vintage)
"Vibrant, bright and light weight pinot, crisp and crunchy, transparent and ultra-fresh feeling. Cranberry and pomegranate juice, watermelon (?) and some light, rocket (arugula) like characters in the mix. Such a fine, filigreed feel here, with the laciest tannins so delicately meshed through. Blink and you’ll miss, pause and you’ll be rewarded."
