Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"Josephine is the alternative name given by sailors to the Carrick Bend knot. Josephine, our reserve Riesling, is made from selected parcels of grapes hand-harvested from Arthur’s Vineyard. The sweetest wine of the range, it is a medium-sweet, mosel-esque style.
The 2023 Josephine is vibrant, persistent and a joy to taste. Bright fruit notes of orange sherbet, fresh strawberry, mango, lime, and a hint of bitter grapefruit mingle on the palate. Balanced by a tingly acid core and a long lingering finish. 51 g/L RS."

"Aromas of variety and mineral, wild white flowers and pear, fresh red apple and sweet Meyer lemon. Fragrant, lifted and enticing. On the palate a medium-sweet expression with flavours of lemon and sherbet, apple, lime and lemon along with contrasting acid line. Fresh, lively and delicious, a wine perfect as an aperitif or with delicately sweet seafood. Lengthy, balanced and well made. Best drinking from 2023 through 2030+."

"The famous knot design on the Carrick label is also known as the Josephine knot, the carrick bend, the sailor’s knot, the Chinese knot, and the Celtic knot. It’s a useful and elegant plait with origins have been traced back to the 700s AD. Yet while the knot might be old, this new riesling is roaring with youthful sweetness, acres of apple intensity and luscious lime layers that absolutely tsunami across the palate. Punchy, peachy, heaving with honeysuckle and mandarin magic. It’s an absolute treat to sip."
