Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"Nose: Cassis, Black Cherry, Violet.
Palate: Supple, Dense, Textured.
The second harvest of our Syrah. Fruit harvested late season, in excellent condition. The fruit was all destemmed, 20 days on skins, hand punched down daily. Indigenous yeast, natural malolactic fermentation in barrel. 11 months in neutral oak. Bottled unfined and unfiltered in March 2025."
Rated Excellent & 93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, September 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"An excellent example of what Central Otago can do with Syrah. A bouquet and palate of ripe blackcurrant and dark plum fruits, a layer of violets and peppercorn, a stony clay quartz-like mineral quality, there’s plenty of concentration, but not too much, and a judicious measure of oak. There’s natural firmness and grip with the tannins and acidity, it a young wine after all, yet the length and persistent aftertaste offers a wine that can stand the test of cellar time whilst remaining drinkable on the day of purchase. Best drinking from 2027 through 2033."
94/100 Jane Skilton MW, The Real Review, April 2026 (2024 Vintage)
"Super opulent with black pepper, roasted shitake mushroom and dark Doris plum. The palate is fleshy and silky, there’s a warmth and generosity to the fruit that creates a satiny texture but the chalky tannins on the finish balance out the decadence. Long and intense, this is almost approachable now though would no doubt improve if cellared."
