Winery notes (2025 Vintage)
"Zweigelt is a red grape variety origination in Hermann's homeland of Austria. It is a favourite at Seifried family gatherings. Our Brightwater vineyard has just 11 rows, totalling less than one hectare of Zweigelt vines.
Zweigelt has full round berries and bunches, with rich purple skin and intense fruit flavours. The grapes were de-stemmed and fermented on their skins, and hand-plunged twice a day. Following fermentation, the wine was gently pressed from the skins and transferred to a mixture of new and three-year-old French oak barriques. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation and remained in the barrel for 11 months. The wine was racked from the barrel and bottled in February 2026.
Dark cherries and violet characters radiate from the glass. The palate has warm berry fruit notes with hints of chocolate and fresh nutmeg. Well balanced oak tannins leave a long warm finish."

91/100 Cameron Douglas MS, August 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"Distinctive, ripe and exuberant red berry fruits lead the bouquet with suggestions of plums then violets, blackberry and boysenberry then lees and a delicate positive reduction. A nicely dry wine on the palate with flavours of boysenberry and tart plums, violet and spice. Well made, taut and still developing with best drinking from 2026 through 2030+"
