Barossa Shiraz. $14.99. Enough Said.
Sometimes you find a wine that is simply ridiculous value. This is one of them.

The Earthworks range comes from the Hill Smith family, the people behind Yalumba, so there is plenty of Barossa winemaking pedigree behind this very easygoing Shiraz. And easygoing is exactly the point. This is not a wine for the cellar or for overthinking. It is made to be opened, poured and enjoyed.

Ripe dark fruits, plum and blackberry meet warming spice and a touch of dark chocolate. Juicy, silky and beautifully smooth, with soft tannins and just enough freshness to keep it lively. A seriously easy drinking Barossa Shiraz.

Backed by the Hill Smith family and already drinking beautifully, this is Barossa Shiraz with plenty of pedigree at just $14.99. Great value, great drinking.

Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"Great wine starts with great soil, and great soil starts with those who know how to work it. When a group of local families decided to bring their grapes – and over 230 years of winegrowing expertise – together, something very special was born. Founded by families and grown across generations, harvesting the benefits of individual wine wisdom – there’s more to this drop than meets the eye. One only need scratch the surface and discover the stories underneath. Dig a little deeper, and discover earthworks.

Aromas of plums and dark fruits with vanilla, cinnamon and clove are entwined with a touch of black tea, bay leaf and blackcurrants. Juicy, fresh and vibrant red fruits, fine, soft tannins and velvety texture.

Shiraz grapes sourced from our Barossa growers are carefully destemmed and crushed into fermenters, where they are gently macerated. Cool fermentation temperatures enhance the rich and generous fruit flavours and soft tannins enjoyed in this Shiraz, while the influence of French oak adds subtle spice and depth."

Rated Excellent, Mark Henderson, Otago Daily Times, September 2025 (2023 Vintage)
"Darker, more brooding nose, dark fruits, plum, baking spices, crushed herb, with air time a top note akin to earl grey tea leaf. Silky, rich palate, expressive with lovely richness and fruit interests yet not at all heavy. Mixed red and dark fruits entwined with spice notes, tannins subtly going about their work. This manages lovely depth while retaining freshness, begging another glass."

4 Stars Michael Cooper (2023 Vintage)
"Drinking well in its youth, this is an ideal, everyday-drinking red. Full-coloured, it is mouthfilling and vibrantly fruity, with generous, ripe plum, berry and spice flavours, a hint of dark chocolate, a distinct touch of complexity, and supple tannins."

5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, July 2025 (2023 Vintage)
"It's splendidly ripe and expressive on the nose, showing dark plum, blueberry, brown spice, and roasted hazelnut aromas. The palate delivers good weight and plump mouthfeel, beautifully supported by supple texture and fine tannins, making it harmonious and flavoursome with a lengthy, silky finish. At its best: now to 2030."

90/100 Cameron Douglas MS, July 2025 (2023 Vintage)
"A fragrant and enticing wine with aromas and flavours of five spice and ripe red berries. Plum and boysenberry, raspberry and cherry. Warm and generous, a lighter-ish expression with fine tannins, plenty of acidity from crunch and freshness. Well made and balanced, perhaps best alongside food or cheese. Best drinking from 2025 through 2030."

89/100 Ray Jordan, WinePilot.com, July 2025 (2023 Vintage)
"A bright and bouncy medium-bodied Shiraz loaded with ripe, fresh red fruit characters and delivering a slightly spicy, cracked black pepper finish. Understated oak and fine tannin support a velvety smooth, medium-weight finish on the palate. It’s ready to drink. "
