Gold Medal & 95/100 – Decanter World Wine Awards 2022
Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"Ripe hand picked fruit, gentle winemaking and maturation in French oak have resulted in a complex and powerful wine. It has a perfumed nose of darks fruits, violets and liquorice with a hint of spice. Ripe berry, plum, cherry and chocolate show on the palate with a long sweet fruit finish. A great example of one of the best Central Otago Pinot Noirs. Drinking fantastically well now and will develop and cellar for several years."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, March 2023 (2019 Vintage)
"This is splendidly fragrant on the nose with sweet cherry, pomegranate, thyme and roasted nut aromas, followed by a silky-smooth palate that's elegantly weighted and finely flowing. Wonderfully balanced and rounded with a persistent refined finish. At its best: now to 2029."
Rated Excellent & 94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, May 2024 (2019 Vintage)
"Complex and varietal with core flavours of fresh red berry fruits, layers of dried herb and baking spices, a mineral earthy quality and additional complexity from bottle-development. A firm touch as the wine enters the palate, tannins have a nice grip and tension, acidity adds freshness and pushes the flavours of berries across the palate. Overall a lovely wine with poise, development and complexity. Well made with balance and breadth through the use of French oak. Best drinking from 2025 through 2030."
4 ½ Stars Michael Cooper, April 2023 (2019 Vintage)
"Still unfolding, the 2019 vintage was estate-grown at Cromwell, hand-harvested and French oak-matured for 9 months. Full, bright ruby, it is vibrantly fruity, with strong cherry, plum and spice flavours, seasoned with nutty oak, very good complexity, and supple tannins. Best drinking mid-2024+."
