As the winery says.. "Woodhenge is a monument to "BIG" ideas and to a unique vision of what makes Wirra Wirra special and well, a bloody big fence that weighs about 10 tonnes." Named after that fence, Woodhenge Shiraz shares many of its endearing qualities; it's big, solid, crowd pleasing and definitely something out of the ordinary.
Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"Woodhenge is a monument to “big” ideas and to Greg Trott’s unique vision of what makes Wirra Wirra special and well, a bloody big fence that weighs about 10 tonnes. Our spin on the classic McLaren Vale style it is rich and bold with mouth-filling fruits and fine sandy tannins that give it a long and persistent finish, built to go the distance.
After the volumes of dark plums, blackberries and florals (think violets), find all-spice and fruitcake notes, vanilla, toast and cocoa on the nose. Rich and full-bodied, the depth of fruit generosity is wrapped around grainy, wellstructured tannins. The combination gives both volume and length to the palate. The characters of dusky-red ripe fruits, oak derived spices and cedar notes, and the savoury, mineral tannins have combined for layered complexity. Pleasingly, this very substantial wine remains fresh and youthful throughout, with the promise of great things to come."

4 Stars Cuisine Australia Shiraz Tasting, June 2019 (2017 Vintage)
"A bright and energetic wine much like the personality of the winery’s founder the late Greg Trott. Raspberries, black currants and a touch of mint that speaks of the site. A balanced wine that is supported by tight tannins and medium acidity."
94/100 Toni Paterson, The Real Review (2017 Vintage)
"Classic McLaren Vale shiraz, with excellent density and brightness. Extraordinary fruit intensity with dried cherry, ripe plum and blackberry jam plus hints of vanilla bean, clove, chocolate and liquorice. An appropriate tannin layer frames the fruit. It’s a wine for those who like their reds rich and concentrated. Top value."
