Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"With minimal intervention winemaking, this Pinot Noir was naturally fermented, and hand plunged in open top fermenters with 10 – 25 per cent whole bunches. The wine was aged for 14 months in French oak barriques and cuves, and went to bottle unfined and unfiltered with low sulphur. A further 16 months aging occurred in bottle before release.
Aroma: raspberry, blueberry, cherry, savoury, earth. Palate: silk, chalk, finely structured, ethereal. Organically grown | in conversion to BioGro organic certification. Unfined | unfiltered | vegan."
Rated Outstanding & 95/100 Cameron Douglas MS, The Real Review, March 2023 (2020 Vintage)
"An enticing savoury complexity leads the bouquet with a core of red berry fruits, cherry and a touch of tart raspberry flesh. Within the savoury mix is oak spice and a mild toasted barrel quality. Youthful, taut and complex on the palate with the savoury spice and core fruit flavours competing for attention. Textures from tannins and acidity along with the unfiltered approach adds appeal and complexity. Youthful, delicious, fresh and dry. Best drinking from 2024 through 2030."
5 Stars Michael Cooper, November 2022 (2020 Vintage)
"Already delicious, the 2020 vintage is a very savoury, single-vineyard red, harvested from 20 year-old vines, matured for 12-18 months in French oak barriques and cuves, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Full ruby, with a highly fragrant bouquet, it is medium to full-bodied, with deep, ripe cherry, plum and spice flavours, gentle tannins, and excellent complexity and harmony. Drink now or cellar."
