Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"The aroma is pure and intense with peach, sweet citrus notes, nutty complexity and lifted vanilla. Complex and enticing. These aromas flow onto the palate which is weighty, rich and pure with defined varietal expression, barrel ferment complexity, and a sustained citrus finish. The French oak and fruit are beautifully balanced."
5 Stars & 96/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, July 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"The complex and enticing bouquet shows ripe apricot, rockmelon, vanilla, roasted hazelnut, and brioche aromas, followed by a wonderfully weighted palate offering plush texture backed by beautifully pitched acidity, making it sumptuous yet graceful and engaging. At its best: 2026 to 2034."
Rated Excellent & 94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, April 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"Aromas and yellow peach and apricot, vanilla and quietly spoken wood scents. Youthful and nicely complex without being loud or verbose. As the wine opens out in glass the scents of lees become stronger and melt into the overall bouquet. Dry with plenty of weight and satin-cream mouthfeel, flavours mirror the bouquet led by citrus then stone fruits, lees and vanilla wood spice and a gentle smoked wood quality. Well made, nice length and impact with best drinking from mid to late 2026 through 2032+."
94/100 Susie Barrie MW & Peter Richards MW (UK), Susie & Peter New Zealand Wines of the Year 2026 (2024 Vintage)
"Tony Bish claims that Chardonnay runs through his veins, and you wouldn’t bet against it. This is a man who knows Chardonnay, and Hawke’s Bay, inside out. His family operation (the next generation is very much involved) makes seven different Chardonnays. This one is sourced from two vineyards (Two Terraces and Kokako Farms) and fermented in French oak barriques, where it remained for 11 months. Aromas of toasted cashew nuts, roasted apple, citrus zest and baked cream lead into a beautifully textured, layered palate profile and lingering finish."
92/100 Stephen Wong MW, The Real Review, November 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"A layered and complex array of wood-smoke, char, cedar, cinnamon and white pepper precede a taut core of green apple, oyster shell and flint before decadent flavours of lemon curd, cashew butter and vanilla envelops the finish. There is very good fruit weight, balanced towards generosity and approachability—a classic chardonnay in every way. There is enough acidity and oak tannin to provide a scaffold for the mid-weight flavours to turn savoury and nutty but there is no pressing need to cellar it: it’s delicious as it is."
