Named after pioneer farmer and landholder of note, Thomas Goss, this label has won over many Aussie Shiraz fans.
We could describe this label as a bit of a 'sleeper', quietly gaining a loyal following with people loving the generous, warming character and flavours of the wine. This new release 2022 vintage steps that up a bit more, ticking plenty of boxes – very deep dark colour, flavour packed palate hinting of plum fruit, cocoa powder that almost feels silky, velvety with the warmth of 14.5% alcohol but balanced out by a fine layer of tannins on the back. Very satisfying.
Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"This wine is rich and generously loaded with vibrant plum, black fruits, mocha and spice on the palate. Subtle French oak adds layers and complexity and the wine has great length with soft tannins. The finish is long lasting, delicious, dense and fruit packed.
A pioneer farmer and landholder of note, Thomas Goss, his wife Mary and their children arrived in South Australia from Devonshire in 1849. After success in the Victorian gold fields he acquired sections of farming land between McLaren Vale and Willunga which are now home to some of the region’s leading vineyards."
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, October 2024 (2022 Vintage)
"Richly fruited and inviting, showing blackberry, rich floral, star anise and hazelnut aromas on the nose, leading to a generously flavoursome palate, delivering silky texture and beautifully infused tannins. Wonderfully composed and expressed, finishing persistent and satisfying. At its best: now to 2030."
