Gold Medal – Marlborough Wine Show 2020
Winery notes (2015 Vintage)
"This wine showcases the outstanding 2015 growing season for Pinot Noir. Red and dark berries intertwine with maraschino cherries and the more savoury tones of Mediterranean herbs. The tannins are soft and integrated, an Iron fist in a silk glove.
Cooler conditions during spring preceded a warm and dry summer/autumn. This resulted in low yields and small berries with a lot of concentration. All of our grapes are handpicked over a 3 week period. Then the wines had between 14 to 19 days on skins with an average of 20% whole bunch. Most of the wines are fermented with indigenous yeast from the vineyard."
Rated Outstanding & 96/100 Cameron Douglas MS, November 2023 (2015 Vintage)
"Complex, detailed, layered, varietal and enticing bouquet. A palate of pinosity and charm, texture and finesse. Tannins deliver a firmish texture and are still integrating into the body of the wine, acidity delivers a backbone and power, core fruit flavours of cherry and pomegranate, raspberry then layers of spices from soil and wood, fruit and wine development. A delicious wine from start to finish with best drinking still to come. Likely window of best drinking from 2027 through 2037."
5 Stars Yvonne Lorkin, January 2023 (2015 Vintage)
"Sourced from the now certified organic Wrekin vineyard in Marlborough’s southern valleys, this Gold Medal-winning pinot noir has, despite its seven-year age, an incredibly fresh, youthful structure and buckets of florals, exotic spices and cherry-centric layers on the nose and palate. Vibrant, yet deliciously complex, this wine is really starting to hit its straps where character is concerned. The tannins are soothing and the finish is long and lithe. Maturing nicely."

"This is starting to show some age now, and in a very good way, with ripe strawberries, flowers and cedar. Medium body and medium, round tannins. Juicy finish. Drink now."
