Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"The Wolftrap is a tribute to the pioneers who ventured into the Cape wilderness in the early days and erected a wolf trap on Boekenhoutskloof. To date, no wolf, either real or mystical, has been seen in the valley.
This captivating white blend opens with an expressive nose of fresh citrus and ripe stone fruits, accompanied by subtle floral undertones. On the palate, it unveils a vibrant mix of peach, green apple, and a hint of tropical pineapple, balanced by a touch of gentle spice. The wine shows great focus and a smooth mouthfeel, with a lively acidity that lifts its medium to full body. A delicate infusion of oak adds depth, while the finish is clean and refreshing, with lingering notes of lemon zest and a soft, herbal nuance.
This unusual blend of Viognier 34% (for spice), Chenin Blanc 33% (melon) and Grenache Blanc 33% (white peach), contributes to an intriguing and harmonious quaffing experience. Separate fermentation and ageing of all components enables identification of the very best quality available to craft this classic three-variety blend."
