Gold Medal – New Zealand International Wine Show 2020
The Crusher from Clarksburg would be a good name for a professional wrestler and this muscular Californian red is certainly built like one. It's big, intense, a little bit loud and showy yet a real softie at heart.
The Crusher Wines are a testament to an enduring partnership between the winemaking tradition of the Sebastiani family and the Wilsons, a respected grape-growing family with deep roots in Clarksburg, California.
Winery notes (2017 Vintage)
"The Crusher Petite Sirah is a deep, inky colour with bold aromas of boysenberry, blackberry, and fig jam. The inviting aromas lead to a medium palate with a core of juicy fruit flavours, toasted hazelnut and baking spice notes. The wine spends 10 months in a combination of French, American and Hungarian oak, giving the final blend a soft texture with fine, well-integrated tannins."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2020 (2017 Vintage)
"Beautifully perfumed and engaging, the bouquet shows blackberry, chocolate, subtle spice and vanillin oak characters. The powerful full-bodied palate is filled with sumptuous fruit richness and velvety texture, leading to a lengthy gratifying finish. At its best: now to 2027."
Rated Premium & 90/100 Cameron Douglas MS, August 2020 (2017 Vintage)
"Ripe dark fruited bouquet with aromas of black currant, blackberry, plum an preserves. There’s plenty of toasty barrel spices with fresh clove and baked vanilla – in fact the bouquet reminds me of blackberry and apple pie. Warm, fruity and packed with flavours of dark berries and preserve, spicy toasty wood, moderate tannins and acidity. Balanced, even, lengthy and ready. Great drinking from today and through 2024+."

NZIWS 2018 (2016 Vintage)
"Rich and inviting with plum jam, cake spice, violet and woodsmoke notes, wonderfully framed by juicy fruit purity and spicy complexity, leading to a gorgeous silky finish. Dense and vivid with punchy dark fruit flavours."
90/100 & Best Buy, Wine Enthusiast (2016 Vintage)
"This a big and proudly oaky wine that's aromatic, full flavoured and concentrated. It shows scents of cedar, clove and cinnamon, with blackberry and maple syrup on the palate. The texture is velvety and smooth."
