Vineyard of the Year – NZ Organic Wine Awards 2021
This wine is absolutely delicious. The Chapman family's organic vineyard on the Glasnevin gravels of Waipara has had some serious recognition recently and was awarded the Organic Vineyard of the Year in 2021. This sweeter Riesling has become a bit of a signature wine for them and the 2024 is another star.
Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"Of all the whites grapes Riesling tends to change its character according to the landscape in which it is grown. Therefore, it can be thought of as 'Liquid Geography". This is a sweeter style wine – we leave the fruit on the vine longer to develop concentration and late harvest character (5% botrytis). This honeycomb flavour is beautifully balanced with fresh citrus characters."

5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, February 2024 (2023 Vintage)
"A terrific rendition of the variety offering both richness and finesse; the inviting bouquet shows mandarin, rockmelon, fig and warm spice aromas, followed by a concentrated palate displaying refined texture combined with elegant sweetness and bright acidity, finishing lingering and delicious. Style: Medium-dry. Certified organic. At its best: now to 2033."
5 Stars & 19.0/20 (95) Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, March 2024 (2023 Vintage)
"Bright, even, pale yellow with a slight green hue. The nose is pronounced with aromas of lime, lime peels, jasmine, honey and pollen. Medium-full bodied, medium-dry to taste, aromas of lime and mandarin entwined with lime peels, jasmine and honey. The fruit is ripe and fleshy with depth and length; sweetness contributes to weight and counter-balanced the crisp acidity, persisting a lengthy, moreish finish. This medium-style Riesling is well-balanced with a juicy citrus core, depth and long lingering. Match with spicy Asia fare or crispy pork belly over the next 10 years. Fermented to 12% alc. Organic certified."
Rated Excellent & 93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, February 2024 (2023 Vintage)
"Aromas and flavours of sweet, ripe red apple and lime, a layer of lime-flower and wet stones then a fine lees quality adds complexity and completeness. Off dry as the wine touches the palate with a flourish of flavours from lemon peel to apple then lime and floral highlights. Lengthy, balanced and well made, a wine ready to drink from day of purchase through 2029."
