Vineyard of the Year – NZ Organic Wine Awards 2021
Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"A new Spanish variety which we absolutely love working with. For added complexity and texture we ferment it in aged oak barrels. On the nose it's fragrant with tropical fruit, while the palate is highly concentrated with crisp citrus and stone-fruit characters.
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, February 2024 (2023 Vintage)
"Pristine and elegantly fragrant with crunchy apple, apricot, lemon zest and white floral aromas, it's juicy and lively in the mouth offering excellent fruit intensity backed by beautifully pitched acidity, finishing splendidly long and enticing. Certified organic. At its best: now to 2028."
Rated Excellent & 94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, February 2024 (2023 Vintage)
"Great colour and bouquet with a vibrancy and freshness, aromas and flavours of fresh white peach and quince, a layer of citrus and white spices, some tropical moments and a core of minerality. The lees work adds complexity and breadth. A dry fruity wine touches the palate with a backbone of acidity for contrast. There’s a light natural saline quality then flavours of white fleshed fruit that mirror the bouquet. A lovely example with best drinking from 2024 through 2029."

Terrace Edge is a (Chapman) family owned and (whole family) operated organic vineyard and olive grove overlooking the Waipara River from its south bank.
Like so many other Waipara Valley growers, grape types have been matched to growing locations that will bring out the best in its qualities, with the 'healthy-soil-first' ethos framing the whole enterprise.
Besides wine, Terrace Edge also grows olives in groves planted by the Chapmans when they converted their property from a sheep farm.
Visitors can book wine and food experiences at the Terrace Edge Tasting Room and take part in a masterclass of wine and food pairing.
