Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"Dark and brooding in the glass, Estate Syrah ’21 is ink-black with a vivid magenta edge. The lifted aromatics of concentrated raspberry and crushed violets quickly become layer upon layer of exotic spices, fruit cake, pancetta, vanilla, and cocoa running the length of this wine’s luscious palate. Dense, saturated, ripe, and enticing in its detail – Estate Syrah ’21 delivers on every dimension."

95/100 & Editors' Choice, Christina Pickard, Wine Enthusiast, May 2021 (2019 Vintage)
"Te Mata's estate Syrah is once again a lucid, approachable beauty. This vintage is more layered than the previous one, unravelling flavours and textures. First, bright cherry and plum arise, then graphite, savoury herbs and flowers chime in. The palate is linear and taut, with leathery tannins, crisp acidity and tart fruit. There's a savoury edge to the finish. It's a serious yet highly drinkable Syrah, especially when paired with roast lamb."
4 Stars Michael Cooper (2019 Vintage)
"The 2019 vintage is highly enjoyable in its youth. Estate-grown in the Woodthorpe Terraces Vineyard and in the Bridge Pa Triangle, it was matured for eight months in French oak barrels (partly new). Full-coloured, it is purple-flushed, fragrant and supple, with generous plum and spice flavours, gentle tannins, and a very harmonious finish. Already delicious, it should be at its best 2022+."
91/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, November 2018 (2018 Vintage)
"It is wonderfully perfumed on the nose showing dark plum, blueberry, red cherry and floral characters with an elegant touch of pepper spice. The palate delivers succulent fruit intensity together with beautifully rounded mouthfeel, leading to a lingering silky finish. Charming and delightfully attractive. At its best: now to 2023."
16+/20 Richard Hemming MW, JancisRobinson.com, February 2020 (2018 Vintage)
"Overripe blackberry fruit. Simple peppery palate with a touch of bitter olive character on the finish. Juicy and refreshing with a lovely light touch. Very gluggable."
