Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"The Life Series captures the essence of Te Kano’s Estate vineyards, using parcels of fruit from across our subregions to give a snapshot of the season and our unique expression of Otago Pinot Gris. Concentrated and expressive, with vibrant aromas of green ginger, Nashi pear, stonefruits and spice. Flavours of fresh pear, lemon zest, ginger and spice explode onto the palate, with sumptuous, tropical notes giving depth and weight. A hint of fruit sweetness complements the defined, mineral acidity."
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, October 2023 (2022 Vintage)
"Gorgeously fruited and elegantly fragrant, the wine shows ripe stone fruit, rockmelon, poached pear and white floral aromas on the nose, leading to a succulent palate delivering fleshy texture backed by juicy acidity, finishing wonderfully long and satisfying. At its best: now to 2027."
Rated Excellent & 93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, November 2022 (2022 Vintage)
"Distinctive floral, mineral and fruity bouquet with scents of green pear and yellow apple, some suggestions of quince and white spices, hard stone mineral and citrus peel. The lees and spice qualities show on the palate first through a satin touch then flavours of white fleshed fruits and citrus. A lovely example with balance, lengthy and moderate+ complexity. best drinking from day of purchase through 2025."
5 Stars & 18.5/20 (93) Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, November 2022 (2022 Vintage)
"Bright, even, pale yellow. The nose is full, packed with dusty fragrance of white blossom and spice, underlying stonefruit, pear and quince. Medium-bodied, dry to taste, aromas of nectarine, ripe pear and quince intertwined with white lily, white pepper and cardamom. The fruit is concentrated with depth and generosity, an excellent balance of acidity lingers with spice and a long finish. This amiable Pinot Gris is smooth flowing with lush fruit, floral, spice and poise. Match with chicken terrine and pepperoni over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from Waitaki, Northburn and Bannockburn, handpicked, fermented cool to 13.5% alc, 6.7 g/l RS, aged on full lees for a short period."
