Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"This deep purple Syrah blossoms with blue fruits and violets, and is directed as if by gravitational force to a subtle undertone of exotic cooking spices. Vibrant and sharply focused, displaying smoke-accentuated nuance on the palate with a plush, velvety texture. Eighteen months in carefully selected French oak barriques with regular bâtonage rounded the tannins, adding to the framework a fine grip and delicate finishing touch."

"Seductively complex and stylish, showing Black Doris plum, cured meat, cake spice and assorted nut aromas on the nose. The palate displays excellent concentration together with plush texture and beautifully woven tannins, making it sturdy yet velvety with a sustained, gratifying finish. At its best: now to 2033."
5 Stars & 18.5+/20 (94) Candice Chow, Raymond Chan, May 2024 (2019 Vintage)
"Deep ruby-red, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is gentle with a mature sense, displaying aromas of plum, red berries, dried herbs, cured meat, spice and cedar. Medium-full bodied, aromas of red and black plums and red berries interweaved with dried herbs, cloves, nutmeg, cedar, floral and cured meat. The lively acidity is lifted and delicate persists elegantly, unfolding spice and rich layers, injecting freshness and vitality. Fine-grained tannins integrated into velvety lines provide structure and an enticing palate, lending a long, delicate, yet structured finish. Match with lamp chops and hare over the next 6+ years. Handpicked, manually sorted for best berries, cold soaked in stainless steel, fermented in batches wild and inoculated to 14% alc, aged in French oak for 18 months. Unfined."
90/100 Erin Larkin, RobertParker.com, Wine Advocate, January 2025 (2019 Vintage)
"The 2019 Voile Reserve features a blend of Syrah and Viognier and leads with a bouquet steeped in pressed roses, blood and blood plum, iodine, graphite, arnica and anise flower. In the mouth, the tannins are abundant, interestingly more profuse than the Bordeaux blends from the same vintage. The wine is classy and quite full, yet it has an elegantly composed finish that speaks of violets, leather and lichen. I see this final character in all of the Tantalus wines tasted here today, and it works as a complexing note."
