Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"Aromas of fragrant cherries, raspberries and blackberries. Rose petals, light baking spice, scents of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. A core of wild strawberry and bramble fruits flavours. Minerality and fruit complexity, with a lovely tension between tannins and acidity. This wine sings from front to back on your palate.
The Pinot Noir grapes for this wine come from a single block at Churton Vineyard, clone 777. The fruit was handpicked and gravity fed into open top fermenters with 20% whole bunch inclusion. The juice was inoculatued with yeast from Churton Vineyard. The skins were gently pumped over twice a day. The total time on skins was 28 days before being gently pressed off and matured in French old oak for 16 months. The wine went through 100% malolactic fermentation in early spring before blending and bottling."

"Gorgeously complex and enticing, the bouquet shows dark berry, porcini, thyme and cedar characters. The palate displays excellent concentration and refined texture, superbly framed by beautifully infused tannins. Plush and flavoursome, while remaining elegant and structured with a sustained, seductive finish. Certified organic. At its best: now to 2032."
Rated Excellent & 94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, October 2023 (2022 Vintage)
"Fabulous bouquet of finesse and charm, delicacy, pinosity, flowers and light red fruits, and a sense of place. Fragrant soil scents of crumbled clay and stones then light baking spice scents of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. Delicious on the palate with a mineral and fruit complexity, fine polished tannins and medium+ acid line. Fruit flavours of cherry and ripe cranberry, some light red plum then baking spices and gentle smoky wood flavours. A lovely wine with best drinking from day of purchase through 2030+."
5 Stars & 18.5+/20 (94) Candice Chow, Raymond chan Reviews, December 2023 (2022 Vintage)
"Light ruby-red, slightly lighter on the rim. The nose is soft and pretty, with aromas of strawberry, cherry, blackberry, floral fragrance and sweet spices. Medium-light bodied, aromas of strawberry and cherry entwined with blackberry, unfolding rose petals, hibiscus, cinnamon and pepper spices. The whole bunch elements contribute to floral fragrance layers. The dusty tannin lightly coats the palate in silk; lacy acidity flows effortlessly to a delicate finish. Match with roasted quail and tuna steak over the next 8+ years. Clone 777, handpicked, fermented in open-top fermenters with 20% whole bunch, inoculated with yeast from Churton vineyard, 21 days on skins, ages 14 months in old French oak, underwent spring MLF."
