Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"Beautiful, bold aromas of Central Otago, black plum, cherry and thyme and a hint of toasted grain. Bright, energetic entry, then blueberry, cream and hints of fruit cake. Delicious.
Hand-sorted and gently destemmed (10% whole bunch), uninoculated ferment. Aged 12 months in barrel followed by 9 months in concrete and wooden cuves. Unfined. Fruit predominantly from Lowburn subregion, originally planted in 2000 on a gentle, north facing slope. A mix of clones and new plantings of high density Pinot Noir on lower terraces planted in 2018-2020. Soils are predominantly loess over deep silts that have developed pedogenic lime deposits."
5 Stars & 96/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, August 2024 (2022 Vintage)
"Perfumed pinot noir with seductive floral, black cherry, vanilla, dark berry wine in an appealing and very drinkable style. Made with a light touch, the wine has a silken and almost ethereal texture."
Rated Outstanding & 95/100 Cameron Douglas MS, August 2024 (2022 Vintage)
"An excellent bouquet and palate with ripe red cherry and raspberry flavours, there’s a mix of brown baking spices and layers of seasoned wood. A dry wine with an abundance of tannins and acidity, freshness and pinosity. A fine texture and elegance with a sense of place, variety and quality."
5 Stars & 94/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, July 2024 (2022 Vintage)
"Complex and elegantly lifted, the bouquet shows ripe cherry, thyme, clove, game and nutmeg nuances, followed by a finely expressed palate that's juicy and supple. Splendidly composed and harmonious, it's stylish and complex with a prolonged, velvety finish."
94/100 James Suckling, November 2024 (2022 Vintage)
"Fragrant aromas of dark cherries, cinnamon bark, potpourri and blackberry bush. The medium-bodied palate has seamlessly integrated tannins and bright acidity, giving notes of mocha, damson plums and violets. Sophisticated and delicate with a savoury undertone."
