Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"Select parcels of fruit from Shiraz vines grown across the Davey Estate Vineyard are handcrafted to maximise the potential of each unique batch. Maturation for 15 months in 1 – 5 year old, fine-grained American (70%) and French (30%) oak hogsheads softens, enhances and integrates the fruit and structural components of the wine. Individual barrel selection is carried out to create the final blend.
Vibrant, deep magenta. Fragrant blackberry, cherry and raspberry aromas are highlighted with hints of milk chocolate and vanilla. The luscious berry-filled palate is complemented with floral notes and focused by silky tannins and subtle cedar oak."
92/100 Huon Hooke, The Real Review (2019 Vintage)
"Deep, dark purple/red colour. Black plum and blackberry aromas dominate, fruit driving it, but there are spice and vegetal touches too and it's not simplistic. The tannins are very evident, bold and ample, but not astringent. A very smart, full-bodied and cellarworthy shiraz."
Reviews for the 2018 vintage below…
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, September 2020 (2018 Vintage)
"Deeply coloured and deeply delicious, this gorgeous shiraz shows black/blueberry, chocolate, cake spice and toasty oak characters on the nose. It’s powerful yet graceful on the palate, exhibiting excellent concentration and depth, well supported by silky texture and beautifully melded tannins. Plush and immensely appealing. At its best: now to 2033."
94/100 Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, October 2020 (2018 Vintage)
"Archetypal in a good way. Straight up the guts and straight through the centre. Blackberry, plum, a mix of milk and dark chocolate, a whisper of mint. Tannin in an integrated way. Complete. Smooth. Satisfying. If you want a ‘big’ traditional red, buy this."
