A premium new white from an exciting region in Portugal. This is the estate white from a house in Portalegre that was recently acquired by the Douro-based Symington portfolio. With local varieties and expert winemaking, the Souto white is a seafood dinner wine that is well worth a swirl. A big step up from the unoaked entry level Florao, this has some serious winemaking that uses a mix of different barrel types to craft it to the next level.

"First impression is more creamy/mealy than fruity but it opens to taut lime-like citrus with a light herbal note. Even more creamy and rounded on the palate, well-judged oak in relation to the bright fruit giving a cedary aftertaste. Complex and still extremely refreshing."

"Lots of lemon zest and stone character with some fresh herbs such as lemongrass. Medium to full body. Layered and creamy. Dried white peach. Lots of dried citrus. A blend of arinto and verdelho. Drink or hold."

"The wine, from the northern Alentejo, is full of ripe white fruits and rich. It has a vibrant white fruit character that gives the wine weight as well as fine acidity. Produced by the Symington family, the wine is ready to drink."
