This is "terrific value" in Nebbiolo from a revered producer of Barbaresco. While this is released under the general appellation Langhe, it follows Produttori's rule of over-delivering on quality. Just as their Barberesco is a second selection from top single vineyards, so this regional Lange is mostly declassified Barbaresco juice. With elegant but deep and nuanced flavours, this is a racy and Barbaresco-like Nebbiolo.
Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"Produced from young vineyards, this Nebbiolo has a young, fresh character that is ready for immediate consumption and is ideal for every day drinking. While labelled under the Langhe DOC appellation, this wine follows all the guidelines and achieves a quality level on par with the Barbaresco denomination. The first vintage of this wine was produced in 1978.
Ruby red colour. Bouquet of red fruit with notes of spices, white pepper and anise. The flavour is balanced with bright fruit. Pairs well with pizza, pastas with simple sauces, sausage, ham, charcuterie and spicy dishes."
92/100 Monica Larner, RobertParker.com, Wine Advocate (2023 Vintage)
"This wine was bottled approximately one month before I tasted it in October and was set to hit the market in November 2024. The Produttori del Barbaresco 2023 Langhe Nebbiolo shows a shiny ruby appearance and offers crunchy fruit flavours with blueberry and tart raspberry. Fruit is collected from the sites and the warmer microclimates that don't end up in the Barbaresco program, and the wine sees a shorter maceration time, lasting 21 days."
91/100 Huon Hooke (2023 Vintage)
"Bright light-mid red-purple colour with a tinge of purple; the bouquet is bell-clear nebbiolo fruit of dark and red cherries, gently spicy and sweetly fruited. Medium body, very light tannins and balanced acidity. A very smart Langhe nebbiolo."
