Already one of the great buys in the world of fine wine, this 2021 release is likely to go down as one of the all-time great vintages. This spectacular Nebbiolo is a fantastic wine to put in your cellar and enjoy over the next 5-20+ years.
Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"Made since 1958, it is the result of blending grapes from different vineyards in the area of origin. It is the wine that has made the company's history, its flagship wine, synonymous with quality and typicality throughout the world."
Importer notes (2022 Vintage)
"This treasure of the wine world is super-quality stuff, reflecting the very best Barbaresco practice and broad sources of the village's top Nebbiolo. This is the firm’s classic Barbaresco and is one of the greatest values in Italian fine wine. Mineral acid and juicy tannins enliven the wine's beautifully bright, floral delicacies. Charming yet consummate, this everything we hope for from this nuanced, fresh style. This again lives up to Parker's touchstone description as "one of the very finest values in ageworthy wine from anywhere in the world".

"In 2022, the estate will only be producing a small quantity of the single-vineyard Riservas, with the majority of fruit going into the 2022 Barbaresco. It pours a jeweled ruby red color and reveals a seductive yet very pure nose of cherry cordial, crushed roses, sweet herbs, and peppery spice. Medium-bodied, it has supple ripeness in the fruit yet wonderful clarity in its tannins and acidity, giving the wine excellent definition and balance."

"This is the firm’s classic Barbaresco and is one of the greatest values in Italian fine wine. The straight 2022 Barbaresco from Produttori del Barbaresco is fragrant and refined, with aromas of blue flower, red berry, citrus and a balsamic whiff of eucalyptus. Surprisingly fresh and juicy for the hot, extremely dry vintage, it boasts flavors of tart red cherry, orange zest and star anise alongside taut, refined tannins that leave some grip on the finish. Drink through 2030."
94/100 Lauren Mowery, Decanter, April 2026 (2022 Vintage)
"Violet, rose and dried herb scents over black cherry, raspberry and a touch of tar. Medium-bodied yet firm on the palate, its succulent red fruits are framed by fine tannins and fresh acidity. The clean and persistent finish shows floral, red-fruit and mineral nuances."
93/100 Michaela Morris, Decanter, February 2026 (2022 Vintage)
"A relatively early harvest saw Produttori del Barbaresco's grapes brought in between 22 September and 3 October. The cooperative decided to reduce the production of its Riserva crus, using approximately 25%-30% of those grapes to bring greater balance to this flagship wine. It is deep, vibrant ruby in hue and just as lively on the nose. Dark currants tangle with brushwood and liquorice root. The palate is rambunctious, full of vigour, racing acidity and earth-tinged wild berries. The alcohol packs a punch but is matched by the fruit concentration and confident structure. Crisp, dry tannins will keep this ticking along."
93/100 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com (2022 Vintage)
"This is a superb set of new releases from the Produttori del Barbaresco cooperative. The Produttori remain the single most important producer in Barbaresco because of the quality of their wines and the scale of their deep reach into many markets around the world. While the Riservas naturally get most of the attention in this range, the straight 2022 Barbaresco is also terrific. The 2022 Barbaresco is a pretty rich, heady wine. Dark cherry/plum fruit, cloves, licorice and mocha build as the 2022 shows off its considerable depth. This is one of the few 2022s that is quite resonant texturally. The aromatics could be more lifted and the tannins could use a bit more polish, but those qualities were next to impossible to come by in 2022. The inclusion of some juice from Riserva lots is a great help. All things considered, this is a stellar showing."
