The name for this wine originates from the 45th North parallel, which runs two kilometres from the domaine’s cellars near Tain L’Hermitage.
Since the early 19th Century, Paul Jaboulet Ainé has been synonymous with quality wine in the Rhône Valley. Jaboulet’s Hermitages – white and red – and most of their upper wines – are the stuff of legend. The famous Rhone winery was bought by the Frey family in 2006. The Freys, owners of Chateau la Lagune in Bordeaux, saw the potential of the vineyards. They brought renewed energy to this corner of France and to one of its greatest names.
Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"Parallèle 45 is named after the famous latitude where great wines are born worldwide. It spans across France and passes over the cellars of Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné.
Deep garnet-red colour. The nose is expressive and rich with aromas of ripe red fruit (strawberry, raspberry) combined with floral and spicy notes. On the palate, this Côtes du Rhône has a fresh, delicious attack with good balance and supple tannins. Notes of red fruit carry through to the finish.
Hand-picked at maturity. The mixed grape varieties are co-fermented with the grenache to fix the colour and the tannins. Syrah is vinified separately with maceration and soft extraction that last about 3 weeks. Aged for 6 months in stainless steel vats and truncated cone-shaped vats on fine lees."

5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, December 2022 (2020 Vintage)
"Beautifully ripe and inviting, the bouquet shows dark plum, sweet cherry, mixed spice and assorted nut aromas on the nose. The palate is equally attractive with excellent weight and succulent fruit flavours well framed by fine silky tannins, offering terrific drinking. At its best: now to 2027."
