Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"A deep ruby red colour, with complex and dense aroma of, cassis blackberry blackcurrant, wild forest berries with fine cedar notes, oyster shell and graphite vanilla, baking spices, some cigar box notes and dark chocolate. The palate is silky and rich, with powerful mid palate tannins and concentrated blackberry, cassis, with a fine and long savoury finish. This wine will improve with cellaring. Recommended drinking from mid-2022 till 2033."
Rated Excellent & 94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, November 2023 (2020 Vintage)
"Dark core of purple and ruby hues with a fuchsia rim and some colour stained tears lead to a bouquet of concentration and power with blackberry and dark plum, barrel spices of clove and vanilla, iron-or soil and hard stone soil scents, violet and synergies of complexity from all that bouquet shows. A youthful and textured wine touches the palate first with a mixed berry flavour, firm tannins and acid line. As the wine begins to open out in glass the supple side begins to show with violets and plums then baking spices and toasty barrel highlights. Taut and youthful still so cellar time needed for this wine. Best drinking from 2026 through 2036+."
#4 Dish Magazine, NZ Bordeaux Reds Tasting, July 2024 (2021 Vintage)
"This blend of 44% merlot, 40% cabernet sauvignon and 16% cabernet franc erupts with brooding blackberry intensity. Ripe and concentrated with chocolate and cedar singing alongside plush, prominent tannins and caramelised oak characters."

5 Stars & Number 3, Cuisine NZ & International Bordeaux Varieties Tasting, June 2023 (2019 Vintage)
"Deeply coloured with a dash of tawny at the rim. Cassis, blackcurrant leaf, some tomato leaf and plums abound on the nose. Superb purity of fruit is immediately evident on the full-bodied palate as is the well-managed oak. Juicy yet focussed with well-handled tannins and a satisfying finish."
94/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, June 2022 (2019 Vintage)
"Paritua is a Hawke’s Bay winery that has steadily grown in stature over the past decade and certainly has a place on my watch list of rising stars. Paritua exports around 50% of its wine production but flies a little under the radar in the local market. Winemaker, Jason Stent has been making wine at Paritua for 14 years – long enough to produce very stylish wines with serious cellaring potential.
5 Stars Michael Cooper, July 2023 (2019 Vintage)
"The very generous 2019 vintage is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (53 per cent), Merlot (35 per cent) and Cabernet Franc (12 per cent). Deeply coloured, it is sturdy, with deliciously rich, ripe blackcurrant, plum and spice flavours, seasoned with nutty oak, impressive complexity and a finely textured, resounding finish. Already approachable, it's well worth cellaring to 2026 onwards."
A blend of cabernet sauvignon 53%, merlot 35% and cabernet franc 12%. Vinous rather than fruity with chocolate/mocha, dark berry, cedar and petrichor (rain on hot asphalt) flavours. A complex wine with rich, ripe tannins."
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2020 (2018 Vintage)
"It's gorgeously composed and expressed, showing dark fruit richness with cocoa, smoked game, anise and cedar characters on the nose. The palate is equally impressive with outstanding weight and concentration, wonderfully enhanced by multi-layered mouthfeel and silky tannins. A blend of 58% merlot, 26% cabernet sauvignon & 16% cabernet franc. At its best: now to 2028."
