As good as Martinborough Sauvignon Blanc gets and up with the best from Marlborough.
Consistently one of New Zealand's best Sauvignon Blancs. From Martinborough and although basically directly opposite to Marlborough, it is exposed to more wind in the late spring during flowering (those brisk southerlies that blow through) and this has the effect of lowering yields. The end result is that Martinborough Sauvignons tend to get riper fruit flavours than Marlborough – passionfruit especially. This is quite evident in this wine along with fresh pea, herbal notes.
Winery notes (2025 Vintage)
"A stikingly pure nose of guava, kiwifruit, apple, snow pea and passionfruit, with top notes of orange blossom and garam masala. Fresh and focused on the palate, with lime zest notes electrifying the generous fruit characters. Richly textural on the mid and back palate, the finish is long, dry and pleasingly complex, with notes of basil and other Mediterranean herbs.
The fruit is harvested and gently crushed to tank, cold settled over 2 days and racked to tank and fermented leaving 2.82 g/litre of residual sugar giving added weight and texture to the wine. A 10% portion is fermented in old barrels. The wine then spends a further 2 months on lees before bottling."
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, October 2025 (2025 Vintage)
"Intensely aromatic and enticing, the bouquet shows kiwifruit, currant, crisp apple, and kaffir lime aromas. The palate displays outstanding fruit concentration and persistence, wonderfully framed by a fleshy texture and vibrant acidity, making it hugely appealing. At its best: now to 2030."
Rated Excellent & 93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, October 2025 (2025 Vintage)
"Delicious, fresh focused, ripe, varietal and tasty. A complete wine with core flavours of pineapple and cape gooseberry, some fresh herb ideas then mineral wet stones complexity. These ideas repeat through the palate with a nettles and a backbone of acidity promoting the variety, style and core fruit flavours. Best drinking from late 2025 through 2029."
