Winery notes (2022 Vintage)
"An enticing, entrancing nose of black cherries, raspberry, smoky oak, pomegranate and star anise. Juicy and expressive with lavish helpings of cherry and spice, a wall of velvety tannins enveloping your palate to remind you of its future potential. Fine, piquant acidity refreshes as the long, complex finish lingers long after you’ve swallowed. An elegant and complex style of Pinot, showing off our Palliser terroir.
A savoury, structured and beautifully layered Pinot Noir, with a nose of dark cherry, plum, and woodsmoke. On the palate are silky tannins, plump cherry fruit, and charred French Oak.
100% of the fruit for this wine comes from organic vineyards; Hua Nui, Winery and Pencarrow. The fruit is a blend of Clones 667, 777, 115, 10/5, MV6 and Abel. All handpicked with 5% whole cluster. A period of cold soak followed by wild fermentations and gentle pumpovers and plunging. The wine is pressed to french oak barrels and left to mature for a period of 10 months during which time it undergoes malolactic fermentation to soften the wine and add complexity. The wine was bottled in March 2023.
Enjoy with Peking Duck, butterflied lamb or fresh venison. Harmonious and delicious now, this wine can be cellared with confidence for a decade or more from vintage."
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, September 2023 (2022 Vintage)
"Stylish and sensually appealing, the wine shows dark berry, dried herb, game and earthy mushroom aromas on the nose, leading to a seamlessly flowing palate that's plush and expansive. Wonderfully supported by refined texture and finely infused tannins, finishing superbly long and satisfying. At its best: now to 2034."
4 ½ Stars Michael Cooper (2022 Vintage)
"This is typically an enticingly perfumed, notably elegant and harmonious red. Ruby hued, the 2022 vintage was estate-grown, hand-harvested and matured for 10 months in French oak barrels. Fragrant, savoury and supple, it has very good depth of cherry, plum, tamarillo and spice flavours, seasoned with nutty oak, fresh acidity and excellent complexity. A 'forward' vintage, it should be at its best mid-2025+."

93/100 Tina Gellie, Decanter, November 2022 (2020 Vintage)
"This Pinot Noir punches well above its weight for the price. Forward aromas of dark berry and red raspberry with more forest fruit earthy tones on the palate, alongside inky grippy tannins and smoky tones. Will age another decade easily; serious, but good approachability too. Some 72% of fruit comes from organic vineyards with 20% undergoing whole bunch fermentation."
