The One-Eyed Reserve is our tribute to the singular focus of crafting a premium North Canterbury Pinot Noir and making it available at a super special price. This wine was never destined to be available for just $19.99.
Cantabrians are often affectionately referred to as "One-Eyed" due to their unwavering support of all things Canterbury. While we're playing on the nickname somewhat tongue-in-cheek, there is one thing we're genuinely one-eyed about: the quality coming out of North Canterbury's vineyards.
For years, we've believed this small wine region punches well above its weight, producing Pinot Noir that can comfortably stand alongside some of New Zealand's most celebrated examples. So when the opportunity arose to secure a special parcel originally destined for a premium label, we jumped at it.
Working alongside a respected North Canterbury producer, we were able to source a wine that captures everything we love about the region. Vibrant cherry and raspberry fruit, subtle spice, silky tannins and an effortless drinkability that makes a second glass almost inevitable.
The critics seem to agree. Awarded 95 points and 5 Stars by Sam Kim, while Cameron Douglas MS rated it 93 points, praising its varietal purity, vibrant fruit and fine structure.
After some careful negotiation, we managed to land this wine at a price that frankly surprised even us.
At just $20 a bottle, One-Eyed Reserve may well be one of the best value Pinot Noirs we've offered in recent years.
Perhaps we're a little one-eyed. We'll let you be the judge.
5 Stars & 95/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, December 2025 (2024 Vintage)
"Wonderfully fruited and gorgeously complex, the wine shows dark plum, sweet cherry, thyme, warm mushroom, and toasted almond characters on the nose. The richly textured palate offers excellent weight, silky flow, and a plump mouthfeel. Splendidly harmonious and structured, finishing impressively long and velvety. At its best: now to 2034."
Rated Excellent & 93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, April 2026 (2024 Vintage)
"Varietal and expressive, vibrant with core aromas and flavours of fresh and tart raspberry, fresh and tart cherry, gentle baking spice notes of clove and vanilla, and clay-silty soil suggestions. Fine tannins and a medium+ acid line, with red berry fruit flavours and a calm, even finish. Well made, with best drinking from day of purchase through 2031."
