From a single vineyard on Waiheke Island, this is the highly regarded top label from this winery. It comes with our (and reviewers) highest recommendation. Seriously impressive Chardonnay. This represents an incredible opportunity to procure a top shelf wine at an astonishingly low price.
Why Mystery labels? We use these when a producer may wish to clear excess stock or end of vintage lines, but they don't want to compromise the brand integrity, especially on-line where names and prices are visible to all. We can’t tell you the producer or normal RRP here – you’ll find this out when you open the box or come into store.
Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"Exquisitely composed, a stunning concentration of nectarine flesh, creamy panna cotta & roasted hazelnuts. Subtle toasty oak & fresh mineral nuances lead to a superbly long & linear finish. Tall in stature & majestic… a worthy treat for the truly devoted."
5 Stars & 96/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, June 2024 (2023 Vintage)
"A magnificent rendition, the enticing bouquet shows ripe stone fruit, melon, vanillin oak and oatmeal characters, leading to a concentrated palate that's succulent and seamlessly flowing. Richly textured with beautifully pitched acidity, finishing impressively long and sophisticated. At its best: 2025 to 2035."
Rated Excellent & 94/100 Cameron Douglas MS, June 2024 (2023 Vintage)
"Distinctive, fresh and ripe, aromas and flavours of grapefruit and California peaches, lemon and barrel spices. There’s a texture layer from lees and warming alcohol adding complexity and breadth. Weighty with a satin-cream touch, plenty of acidity and core fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet. Delicious; ready to drink from 2025 through 2030+."
5 Stars & 18.5/20 (93) Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, July 2024 (2023 Vintage)
"Bright, even, pale straw yellow. The nose is softly full, with aromas of citrus, stonefruit, delicate spice, vanilla and a suggestion of melon. Medium-full bodied, aromas of lemon and grapefruit melded with peach and honeydew melon, zest, vanilla and a touch of white spice. A zest acid line flows elegantly with vibrancy along a lightly creamy mouthfeel; delicate spice adorns and lends a toasty closing with salinity. This Waiheke Chardonnay is posied with a citrus core, balanced toasty spice elements and a smooth-flowing line. Match with roasted chicken and prawns over the next 5 years. Fruit from the Carter vineyard, fermented to 13% alc."
