Gold Medal – New Zealand Aromatic Wine Competition 2019
Winery notes (2019 Vintage)
"This fruit driven Riesling has lemon and lime aromas with a luscious finish. The palate is rich in both texture and concentration with good balance, acidity and fruit flavour.
The lemon and lime flavours mean the wine will compliment pan-fried white fish and the good levels of acidity would offset the oiliness of richer seafoods. The slight sweetness (30g RS) would make it perfect for a summer pudding, such as Eton mess. But it’s light enough to make a delicious summer aperitif."
4 Stars Michael Cooper (2019 Vintage)
"Delicious young, the 2019 vintage is a distinctly medium style (30 grams/litre of residual sugar). Attractively scented, it is light-bodied, with fresh, peachy, slightly limey flavours, crisp acidity, and a finely poised, lengthy finish. Great value."
91/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, December 2019 (2019 Vintage)
"Attractively fruited and inviting, the bouquet shows ripe peach, orange peel, lime zest and subtle spice aromas, followed by succulent palate that's juicy and lingering. It's beautifully complemented by elegant sweetness and refreshing acidity, making it charming and very enjoyable. Style: Medium. At its best: now to 2024."

"Very intense aromas of peach, dried apricot and mandarin, the palate is balanced, mouth-filling with crisp zingy acidity and an alluring mineral note of wet slate that adds to the rich complexity of the wine. Waipara is an area that excels in producing great Riesling and this is no exception. A small family-owned estate, these grapes were sourced from their Limeloader vineyard. Our Champion Aromatic is flavoursome and perfect with sashimi."
18.5/20 Joelle Thomson, October 2018 (2018 Vintage)
"It's easy to taste why this stunner won gold at the 2018 New World Wine Awards: it's the essence of North Canterbury. Almost bone dry in taste with intense fresh lemon and lemongrass aromas, it has a medium body and long finish. An awesome wine from a small producer in one of this country's most exceptional wine regions."
5 Stars & 18.5+/20 (94) Raymond Chan, September 2018 (2018 Vintage)
"Brilliant straw colour with pale golden hues, lighter on the edge. The nose is very fresh and tightly bound with taut aromas of exotic citrus and lime fruit along with tropical fruits and florals, revealing a fresh core of herbs and tangerines. This is classical North Canterbury exoticism. Medium in sweetness, the palate is beautifully poised and fresh with rich, exotic flavours of an array of citrus fruits, tropical fruits and florals, along with minerals, herbs and tangerines. The fruit is vibrant and the mouthfeel has vitality, unfolding exotic aromatic detail as it flows along a zesty, fine-textured palate with brisk, racy acidity leading to a long and sustained finish. This is a beautifully vibrant medium-Riesling with exotic fruit flavours of citrus fruit, florals and tropical fruits, and classical tangerine notes. Serve as an aperitif and with Asian cuisine over the next 4+ years. A single estate wine, the fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 11.5% alc. and 11.5 g/L RS."
