Gold Medal – New Zealand Aromatic Wine Competition 2020
Since building their own winery in 2013, the wines of Mount Brown have been going from strength to strength with much show success and great reviews across a number of varieties and, it would seem, an ever growing following out there in the marketplace. The 2020 Pinot Gris is just off-dry in style with plenty of fruit packed into it. Subtle honey notes and cleansing acidity give it great persistence. Delicious drinking and really sharply priced!
Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"This delicious wine has upfront fruit with lovely pear and peach flavours. Some subtle quince and spice notes add to the complexity. Some residual sugar (7g) results in a medium-full palate with great texture."
5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, December 2020 (2020 Vintage)
"It's immediately appealing on the nose showing apricot, poached pear, rockmelon and lemon zest aromas. The palate delivers terrific fruit intensity and richly textured mouthfeel, beautifully balanced by refreshing acidity, offering excellent drinking. At its best: now to 2023."
Rated Excellent 94/100, Cameron Douglas MS, March 2021 (2020 Vintage)
"Plush, fruity and creamy textured bouquet with aromas of brown and yellow pears, a touch of quince and soft red apple. On the palate – silky and seamless with flavours of spice and fresh white fleshed fruits linked seamlessly. Acidity, alcohol and some fine lees add texture and weight. Lengthy finish, balanced and well made. Drink now and through 2022."
