Double Gold Medal – New Zealand International Wine Show 2024
This is such a good Pinot! The quality of fruit from Dominic Mondillo's prized Bendigo vineyard has given a Pinot Noir that is bursting with dark cherry and savoury flavours. Full and velvety in the mouth this is absolutely delicious.
Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"Deeply coloured with a stunning sweet cherry fragrance and a spicy nut bouquet. Generous sweet cherry, boysenberry and plum flavours with finely integrated oak. This vintage is beautifully balanced with a silky velvety richness. The fruit was hand harvested in March 2023, 100% de-stemmed followed by a long cold maceration, fermented slowly and gently pressed. This wine has been filtered, is unfined and aged in French oak barriques, of which 25% were new, for 11 months."
5 Stars Michael Cooper (2023 Vintage)
"This delicious red was estate-grown at Bendigo, hand-harvested and matured in French oak barriques. Deep, bright ruby, it is weighty, sweet-fruited, savoury, and supple, with strong cherry, plum and spice flavours, hints of liquorice and nuts, good tannin backbone, and excellent depth, complexity and harmony."
5 Stars & 96/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, July 2024 (2023 Vintage)
"Offering gorgeous fruit purity with stylish complexity, the wine shows sweet plum, dark cherry, floral, olive and toasted almond characters on the nose, followed by a silky-smooth palate that's succulent and fleshy. Wonderfully harmonious and balanced with finely infused tannins, finishing impressively long and refined. At its best: now to 2037."
Rated Outstanding & 95/100 Cameron Douglas MS, May 2024 (2023 Vintage)
"Fantastic bouquet of variety, ripeness, site and region. A bouquet of fresh red and dark cherries, dried raspberry and fresh plums. This is layered between scents of new French barrel and a touch of wood smoke then a fine layer of dried herb and baking spices. Delicious as the wine touches the palate, a fine satin texture is cushioned against tannins and acidity delivering plushness and texture. Complex, youthful, taut and dry. A wine to drink now or cellar, both work. Best drinking from 2027 through 2037."

5 Stars & 95/100 Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review, July 2023 (2022 Vintage)
"The grapes were 100% de-stemmed and given a long, cold maceration to emphasise fruit flavour. Filtered but unfined, the wine was aged in French oak barriques (25% new). From one of the earliest vineyard sites in Bendigo. Delicately aromatic pinot noir with a mix of floral/violet, cassis, bright cherry, spice and subtle vanilla flavours. The wine shows impressive purity and length. Delicious now but should develop well with bottle age."
