"After more than 41 vintages, we have chosen to retire both the Vineyard and ourselves and now look forward to spending more time with our family” – Annie Millton.
After more than four decades of caring for the land, pioneering organic and biodynamic viticulture, and crafting wines of integrity, The Millton Vineyard will gently close this remarkable chapter. Renowned for its authenticity and innovation, Millton leaves an enduring legacy and a profound contribution to New Zealand’s wine story.
As the winery winds down, there is a rare opportunity to secure final vintages of these iconic wines at exceptional pricing – an opportunity to cellar and celebrate the lasting work of a true pioneer.
Lovers of Millton Chenin Blanc will find plenty to enjoy here…
A new label, but also a final one. Previous releases of the Millton white blend were under the Crazy By Nature label, however for this final release the quality of the Chenin Blanc shines through and is quite a step up in quality. We had our first chance to taste this earlier in the week and were very impressed. Although we have good stocks here, we immediately ordered more as we know it will find many fans.
This radiant Gisborne blend brings Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and a splash of Viognier together in beautiful harmony. Chenin is the life of the party, bursting with pineapple, mango and bright citrus freshness. Chardonnay adds juicy peach and nectarine depth with lovely palate weight and drive. Viognier swirls in with floral perfume and a touch of tropical richness, giving the wine its seamless, flowing texture.
From a warm, generous vintage and crafted with hand-picked fruit, indigenous yeasts and gentle oak ageing, it’s a wine that feels alive, expressive and unmistakably Millton.
Winery notes (2025 Vintage)
"Chenin Blanc forms the backbone of Te Arai White, with Chardonnay and Viognier completing the blend. The 2025 vintage delivering strong yields under warm, dry conditions and resulting in excellent fruit definition. In the Te Arai White, the Chenin Blanc contributes vibrant tropical notes, with hints of pineapple, mango, and almond frangipani. The Chardonnay adds the lovely juicy peach and nectarine notes while the Viognier brings in the richness and aromatic lift.
All the fruit comes from our own vineyards, hand-picked and whole-bunch pressed. The juice is cold-settled before being aged in a selection of barriques and demi-muid barrels, with only a small proportion of new barrels used. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and left unfined, allowing the wine’s natural texture and flavours to express themselves."
