"After more than 41 vintages, we have chosen to retire both the Vineyard and ourselves and now look forward to spending more time with our family” – Annie Millton.
After more than four decades of caring for the land, pioneering organic and biodynamic viticulture, and crafting wines of integrity, The Millton Vineyard will gently close this remarkable chapter. Renowned for its authenticity and innovation, Millton leaves an enduring legacy and a profound contribution to New Zealand’s wine story.
As the winery winds down, there is a rare opportunity to secure final vintages of these iconic wines at exceptional pricing—an opportunity to cellar and celebrate the lasting work of a true pioneer.
Winery notes (2023 Vintage)
"Semi dry in taste there is a unique calcified character, which is sometimes seen in classic Rieslings from the old world. The fine acidity helps harmonize the phenolics and fruit sweetness. Vine age going back to 1981 helps build the honeyed spice texture in the mouth and now with very recent plantings of newly imported selections this adds lifted citrus fruit aromas and textures.
Here now, you have a wine that reveals its own true character which has been uninterrupted by science, grown as freely as possible and made by someone who, at an early age, was introduced to classic Riesling in Germany. This is a wine that commands respect for the term “a sense of place” – Terroir."
