Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"‘La Cote’ is home to a collection of modern Pinot Noir clones and like all the Millton vineyards is dry farmed and has been cultivated biodynamically since 1989. I look to the old world for inspiration with Pinot Noir. “I don’t want a big fruit bomb, nor a dark wine with blocky oak tannin. I want delicacy and digestibility with a subtle memory that can accompany aromatic foods with flavour”.
Bright fruited, expressive nose, with notes of dark cherry, juniper berry and an intriguing hint of fennel and manuka flower. There is a savoury taste with firm tannins and ripe fruit finishing with a lively mineral edge to balance. Unfined. Unfiltered."
95/100 Mike Bennie, The Wine Front, February 2024 (2021 Vintage)
"This was wonderful in texture, loose knit but packed with fruit and savoury characters, red cherry, rose hip tea, shiitake mushrooms, truffle and earthy, herbal notes abound. It’s got this haze to texture too, light tannins, fresh, blood orange acidity in the mix. It’s kind of ‘brown wine’ spectrum, if you get the drift, but that’s said with huge positivity. It flows beautifully and feels effortless. Lingering flavours of woody spices and dried red berries. Beautiful."
