Winery notes (2021 Vintage)
"This sumptuously soft and opulent Chardonnay from one of our premium vineyards in Hawke’s Bay is simply a delight. Beautifully balanced toasty French oak envelops the white stone fruit and creamy butterscotch notes. Bold flavours and silky smooth texture, lead into an alluring hint of aniseed and ginger spice that lingers on the finish.
A selected yeast was for used for inoculation with fermentation happening with 50% new French oak, and 100% undergoing malolactic fermentation to achieve an integrated buttery texture. Thereafter the wine spent ten months on yeast lees with frequent stirring for enhanced complexity."
Rated Excellent & 93/100 Cameron Douglas MS, February 2024 (2021 Vintage)
"Bold and very expressive with impact of oak and bottle age delivery complexity and power with scents of fresh and baked peaches and pineapple, baking spices from wood and a toasty quality from both wood and earth. There’s also a nutty cashew and leesy quality. Full-bodied, warm and dry with a nicely powerful palate with wood and spices, nut and texture leading ahead of the core fruit flavours that reflect the bouquet plus apple and fine lees textures tannins and a satin mouthfeel. Best from day of purchase through 2029."

5 Stars & 93/100 Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, July 2021 (2020 Vintage)
"This is beautifully fruited and fragrant on the nose showing golden peach, French vanilla and cedar characters with a touch of butterscotch. The succulent palate delivers terrific fruit richness combined with plump mouthfeel and creamy texture, making it delectable and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2024."
4 ½ Stars Michael Cooper (2020 Vintage)
"'Sumptuously soft and opulent', the 2020 vintage is a single-vineyard wine, matured in French oak casks (50 per cent new). Bright, light yellow/green, it is mouthfilling and fleshy, with generous stonefruit and toasty oak flavours, gentle acidity and a seductively smooth finish. It's already drinking well."
