A high-quality Malbec from Argentina. Ripe fruit is delivered with real class and satisfaction in a food-friendly style. The vines here are old (about 90 years) and lie on elevated soils on their own original rootstocks, where they are carefully hand harvested and sorted. The wine's savoury power comes mostly from the half that goes into new oak, while for the rest it is stainless steel that preserves the expressive dark red fruit characters.
Winery notes (2020 Vintage)
"Lunta comes from our vineyards facing the Lunlunta hills. This Malbec, planted in 1928, has been cultivated and grown using the same exacting techniques as the parcels used for Mendel. During the barrel ageing we do a complete tasting of all the barrels, selecting for this wine those with more fruit and lighter body and structure, to achieve a fresh and easy drinking Malbec."
Reviews for the 2019 vintage below…
92/100 James Suckling (2019 Vintage)
"This is fine and fresh with black-cherry and orange-peel aromas and flavours. Medium body. Crisp finish. Some tar and dark fruit at the end."
90 /100 Luis Guttierrez, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2019 Vintage)
"The velvety 2019 Lunta Malbec was produced with fruit from Luján de Cuyo, and it's as classic as it gets, with aromas of wild berries, flowers an orange peel. It fermented in stainless steel and was bottled unoaked. It's juicy and soft, fresh and balanced with sweet tannins."
