Gold Medal – New Zealand International Wine Show 2024
Winery notes (2024 Vintage)
"Mount Maude is a small vineyard owned by Dawn and Terry Wilson in the beautiful Maungawera Valley near Wanaka, New Zealand. Planted in 1994 on a steep, north–facing terraced slope, terrior of this vineyard combined with the long dry autumns experienced in Central Otago provide perfect growing conditions for the grapes.
Apple sorbet, lime leaf, grapefruit peel – A beautiful play on sweetness and acidity delivering a pure and balanced off-dry style, allowing for these harmonious fruit flavours to shine."

"A well-regarded example of an off-dry Riesling – winning the Trophy for Champion Riesling at The National Wine Awards of Aotearoa, and a Gold Medal at NZIWS 2023. Very pale green in the glass, with effusive aromas that could only be Riesling. Scents of lime sorbet, lemon peel, grapefruit and crisp green apple. Immediately on the palate there is a joyful balance and interplay of fresh acidity and residual sweetness. This generates energy and interest, letting those ripe fruit flavours sing. The mouthfeel is rich, even slightly creamy – despite that acid sharpness. Some minerality and a hint of crushed herbs at the finish round things out."

"Absorbing nose with musk, apple, anise and dry honey. Fruit pastille, apple, spices and honey flavours to the fore, a delightfully tangy undercurrent balancing the sweetness. Crunchy, yet also a lovely creaminess adding notes of grilled sugar- topped grapefruit. Lots of energy, the flavours hang in the mouth, full of life. Deliciously lip-smacking."

"Moderately sweet riesling with sweetness balanced by juicy acidity giving the wine a delicious tension. White flowers, wet slate, oyster shell, lime and apricot flavours. It has purity and power."
